A DIVERSIFIED CAR FLEET

The City wishes to set an example and implement actions to introduce cleaner vehicles and hybrid and electric vehicles in accordance with regional legislation. In addition, the City is increasing the proportion of electric industrial equipment and horticultural machinery. Centralising services in the new administrative centre and implementing teleworking will also facilitate car sharing for staff in different departments, resulting in a reduction in the number of multi-purpose cars and vehicles. The City wishes to foster the use of bicycles for short journeys, by also making cargo bikes or scooters available for journeys which require the transport of equipment.

OBJECTIVES TO BE ACHIEVED:

  • The systematic inclusion of an environmental clause in the specifications for the procurement of new vehicles, representing 30% of the points when assessing tenders;
  • Increase of 15% in the number of hybrid and electric vehicles in the category "light and commercial vehicles" over 4 years;
  • Reduction of 15% in the number of cars and multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs)/monospaces over 4 years;
  • Increase of 15% in the proportion of electric industrial equipment and horticultural machinery (Goupil vehicles, Glutton machine, snowblower, brush cutters, hedge trimmers, etc.).
  • Provision of 5 cargo bikes and scooters for staff travel requiring volumes to be moved (logistics) over short distances.

Expected reduction of CO2: 7.5 t CO2/year

Other impact(s):

  • Socio-economic: fuel savings for combustion vehicles replaced by electric/hybrid vehicles.
  • Cultural: Changes in behaviour aiming for rational use of vehicles which use less fuel.
  • Environmental: Less noise, better air quality.

Follow-up indicators:

  • Number of electric or hybrid new vehicles, industrial material and horticultural machines.
  • Number of cargo bikes/scooters.

Results indicators:

  • Km driven by hybrid or electric vehicles.
  • Consumption of petrol and diesel vehicles.
