Brucity

The current Administrative Centre has become outdated and no longer meets the needs of the public. As such, the Brucity project (the new Administrative Centre) plans to construct a modern building to accommodate almost 1,700 employees of the City of Brussels. The energy performance of the building will be passive, in accordance with the standards in force in the Brussels-Capital Region (EPB 2015). The building will feature photovoltaic solar panels, a co-generation system, full LED lighting, a rainwater collection system that will supply the toilets, and company vegetable garden containers on the roof.

OBJECTIVES TO BE ACHIEVED:

  • Reduce the primary energy consumption of the Administrative Centre of the City of Brussels by 65%.
  • A net heating requirement less than or equal to 15kWh/m2 per year.
  • Primary energy consumption lower than or equal to 85kWh/m2 per year.
  • Reduce the consumption of public drinking water in the Administrative Centre by 1500 m3 of water per year.
  • Cover 10% of Brucity's primary energy needs by generating renewable energy (photovoltaic panels and co-generation system).
  • Obtain Breeam Very Good certification for Brucity.

Expected reduction of CO2: 324.9 t CO2/year

  • Calculations updated at the handover of the building.

  • % of renewable energy coverage in the primary energy consumed.

Budget: The Brucity project requires an investment of €135,000,000.
